Can you encapsulate my placenta if I birth in a hospital?
Yes. Placenta encapsulation is possible in a variety of situations including home birth, hospital birth with or without medications, birthing center, water birth, short-term lotus birth, and even in the case of a loss.
What if I have a c-section?
You can still have your placenta encapsulated in the event of a cesarean birth.
My placenta is in my freezer! Can you encapsulate it?
It is possible that your placenta is still potent and suitable for consumption even if it has been frozen for several months, as long as it was frozen in a timely manner and is not damaged by "freezer-burn". I once prepared a placenta that was frozen for 9 months and it made very potent capsules.
Why do you prepare my placenta at my house?
Your placenta will be prepared in your kitchen, using all of my dedicated encapsulation supplies. The reason for this is to reduce the risk of cross-contamination. Your kitchen is home to all of your germs, therefore it is unlikely there will be anything there that you have not already been exposed to.
Can you describe the process?
As a PBi-trained specialist, I follow the PBi proprietary method which is based in Traditional Chinese Medicine. In short, the placenta is steamed with warming herbs, prepared for dehydration, and ground into a fine powder which is placed in gluten-free, kosher, gelatin capsules*.
May I watch or take pictures?
I am happy to have you take pictures and be present as much as you want to be. After all, it is your placenta and your home. If you do take pictures, I might ask you to share them with me!
How many pills will my placenta yield, and how long do they last?
The size of your placenta, which is relative to the size of your baby, will determine the amount of powder that is produced. Typically, a placenta will yield between 70-100 capsules. Taken regularly throughout the postpartum period, they will support you through the critical adjustment period. As long as the pills are stored properly (in the refrigerator, or in the freezer if not being used) they can last for years.
What is the dosage?
Upon completion of your encapsulation, I will advise you on dosage. Suggested dosage may vary slightly, depending on certain factors. In general, you may adjust your own dosage as you feel you need more or less.
What is the tincture used for?
Placenta tincture is a wonderfully specific medicine made from a high proof vodka that has been infused with a fresh piece of placenta, much like an herbal tincture. If stored tightly capped in a cool, dark place it should keep indefinitely. For the mother, it is most useful for hormone balancing and support, such as during PMS or menopause. Dosage is 10-40 drops in water 1-2 times per day.
The placenta for the tincture is taken from the very point where placenta connected to mother's womb. We suggest that you do some research as to how others are using it for the child, as it is traditionally given only to the mother.

I'm not sure about the art print. . .
The art print is a keepsake that captures the amazing 'tree of life' image that the placenta and it's many veins create when pressed on watercolor paper. We offer two options: "Natural Sepia", for which the placenta's own blood is used and "Color", using beet powder and spiralina to create a vivid image. Whether you display the print or keep it tucked away as a keepsake, this is a unique and beautiful opportunity to preserve the organ that grew your child.
